Chive Chive is a great Christmas dinner herb. Perfect with eggs for breakfast, sprinkled on a hearty soup made from left-overs or added to a dip for crudites – it’s an easy to grow herb which makes an attractive and tasty garnish.

Rosemary - Barbeque A Christmas dinner herb if ever there was one. Roast potatoes cooked with rosemary are a must as are some sprigs tucked in with a Christmas ham or in the turkey cavity. Rosemary also makes an excellent botanical for Christmas cocktails and mocktails.

Dill A key ingredient Gravlax, the cured Nordic salmon dish which is a particularly popular Christmas starter. The delicate flavour which compliments rather than overpowers seafood, also goes very well in yogurt dishes, potato salad, sauces, pickles and breads.

Sage - common There’s so much more to sage than stuffing, although it is pretty awesome in it. Fresh sage holds its own against other strong flavours. Try sage in a gin cocktail, a home-made focaccia or whizzed into a mood boosting smoothie.

Lemon Balm Lemon balm has a lovely, zesty citrus flavour and is excellent stuffed into the turkey cavity alongside other herbs and gubbins. The leaves make a stomach settling, relaxing tea and are particularly delightful in a Christmas day livener.

Thyme - Lemon As you can imagine, lemon thyme goes particularly well with turkey and is lovely scattered on roasted, Mediterranean vegetables and potatoes. A bit sweeter than other thyme varieties, so is the one to choose for using in desserts, drinks and cocktails.
